Sticks

The luminous center of this work is a single piece of German mouthblown “Flashed” glass created by the glassblower layering a color over clear glass which is then blown into a cylinder shape and then carefully flattened into its final “sheet” form. In this instance, it is a glowing white opal which has been etched through to the clear revealing the captivating pattern of staggered “sticks”. The surrounding ½” band of color glows with subtle shades and delights the eye with the variety of hues. Working well both horizontally and vertically, this piece will provide a lifetime of enjoyment. Framed in Maple, it does not demand but rather engages with an understated timeless elegance.
